Peschiera del Garda
A CITY WITH A MILLENARY HISTORY

Peschiera is one of the most characteristic localities of Lake Garda: it overlooks the Veronese shore of the lake, at the confluence with the Mincio river, and is completely surrounded by canals.
The first settlements in the area date back to the Bronze Age, Peschiera was then a Roman city, from the end of the 13th century part of the Scaligera Lordship and later a possession of the Republic of Venice.
The historic center of Peschiera del Garda is characterized by walls and fortifications that began to be erected since the Middle Ages, which culminate in the Fortress, an imposing defensive work that has protected the town for centuries.
A short distance from the center stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino, a 16th century church full of artistic treasures, with an enchanting cloister.
